Grid and Long Lap Penalties at US GP
Marco Bezzichi and Luca Marini were both given 2 place grid penalties for todays MotoGP race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, for riding slow on the racing line during qualifying.
The infraction was highlighted by the fast approaching Marc Marquez who was obviously held up by the cruising pair ahead.
Ironically, Marc Marquez would receive a penalty himself in the Sprint race that followed, where he made a lunge on race leader Fabio DiGiannantonio causing both of them to crash out of the the race. The Ducati rider, who has been struggling to maintain his normal domination of the Texas circuit, will find it difficult to secure an 8th victory with the added burden of a long lap penalty to serve during the race
Diggia will start the race from pole position, but will now have Pedro Acosta and Francesco Bagnaia alongside him, who will be hoping to go one better than in the Sprint and challenge for the top step.
Expect the two factory Aprilias of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin to challenge strongly from the rows behind as Bezzechi chases his fifth consecutive MotoGP win.
