Brazil Sprint Race

Marc Marquez takes first victory of 2026

The start of the MotoGP Sprint was delayed by over an hour due to a sudden sink hole appearing on the start and finish straight, in front of a sell out crowd, at the Autodromo Internacional de Goiania-Ayrton Senna in Brazil.

Marc Marquez eventually cruised through to his first win of the season after a race long battle with VR46 rider, Fabio DiGiannantonio, who started on pole.

Champion Marquez was forced to battle with Fabio Quartararo in the early laps, who had made a fast start from his 4th place on the grid. The Frenchman eventually faded, due to the lack of top speed on his Yamaha, eventually finishing in 6th place.

The Italian claimed mistakes cost him the victory after he lost the lead to Marquez, going wide on turn 6, but nonetheless this performance shows the underrated VR46 rider will be a regular contender in 2026.

The final place on the podium was taken by Aprilia’s Jorge Martin, narrowly beating his team mate Marco Bezzechi. The 2024 World Champion was visibly emotional as he eventually marked his return to the top of the field after an injury plagued 2025.

The Aprilias definitely looked like the bike to beat in Brazil with Ai Ogura finishing in 5th just behind the factory bikes.

Alex Marquez followed Quartararo home in 6th and 7th followed by Bagnaia, Acosta and Moreira rounding out the top 10.
