Bezzecchi Bounces Back to Claim Race Day Victory
Marco Bezzecchi bounced back from his Sprint race disappointment to deliver a dominant performance in the Thai Grand Prix, claiming victory in the opening round of the 2026 MotoGP season at the Chang International Circuit.
Starting from pole position, the Aprilia rider made a perfect launch and immediately controlled the race from the front. Unlike the previous day’s Sprint drama, Bezzecchi produced a faultless ride, leading every lap of the 26-lap contest and gradually building a comfortable advantage over the chasing pack.
Behind him, Sprint winner Pedro Acosta delivered another impressive performance for KTM, securing second place after managing tyre wear and maintaining a steady pace throughout the race.
The battle for the final podium position went the way of Raúl Fernández, who brought the Trackhouse Aprilia home in third after fending off pressure from fellow Aprilia rider Jorge Martín.
Further back, drama struck for Marc Márquez, who had been in contention for a podium before suffering a rear tyre puncture, ending his hopes of a strong finish.
Bezzecchi eventually crossed the line over five seconds clear of Acosta to claim victory, completing a remarkable comeback after his Sprint crash and giving Aprilia a dream start to the season.
With a Sprint win and second place in the Grand Prix, Acosta left Thailand leading the early championship standings, while Bezzecchi’s victory confirmed Aprilia as a major early contender in the 2026 title fight.
